President’s Letter
Greetings Burlington BPW members/friends!
April is upon us bringing, hopefully, fewer showers and lots of greens and flowers! It is also the month we recognize Equal Pay Day. The next Equal Pay Day is Tuesday, April 20, 2010. This date symbolizes how far into 2010 women must work to earn what men earned in 2009. Get involved this year, we will be talking about our planned activities soon.

This is my final President’s letter; and it saddens me to be writing it! It was a very interesting year of transition as we were all learning about changes in membership dues, losing and gaining members, amending By-Laws (so far on the State level only; our L.O. will amend them in the coming months), and discussing how we envision our club in the future.

It was also a year of maintaining traditions and programs. We gave the WOY, WOA, and EOY awards in the fall of 2009 awarding Barbara Swinton WOY; Laurie Hammond, Triple Loop Skate and Dance, WOA; and United Way of Chittenden County EOY. We held the Young Careerist Program in March of this year. It was a very exciting event; the women competing were very poised, articulate, and are excellent representatives of young business women building exciting careers in today’s professional environment. The judges could not pick one over the other, so we had a tie! The winners are Stephanie Hainley and Henrietta Menzies.

Our next business and dinner meeting is Wednesday, April 14. We will be installing our 2010-2011 board that evening. This is an important event so please join us as we install Caisil Weldon as the new Burlington BPW President and the board that will serve with her!

Finally, I want to thank the entire membership and, especially, my board and committee members, for the un-wavering support and dedication you have given me this year. I have so enjoyed the role and responsibilities of President, and it is an honor that I will keep with me forever.
